Land of the Walking Zombies

As I sit here writing it is 4:11 am. Dear God, you're thinking. Why is she awake at that hour? Long story.
I went to visit my Dad and stepmom this weekend. My stepmom was having a birthday and said the only present she wanted was a house painting party. So, I left the kids home with Dr. Daddy (who was all too happy to miss the painting party) and headed off for a weekend of painting. I actually don't mind painting. I find it kind of soothing. I surprised my stepmom on Friday afternoon, which was fun. I can never keep secrets so being able to keep the surprise up all week was a big one for me. Between Saturday morning and this afternoon we managed to get her foyer, library and living room painted. Now all she has to do is the trim. I think I've convinced her to hire someone to do that.
The problem is that they have a new dog. My stepmom rescued him from the SPCA. Dad is not happy. Cute dog, but he chews everything and is just really high maintenance. I am allergic to any dog that sheds, which this one does a lot of. So, I took a Claritin this morning. For whatever reason the 24 hour Claritin I took has been like taking speed. I am so tired but I simply cannot sleep. I've tried Tylenol PM to no avail. Of course, it doesn't help that both kids have come into my room asking for water. So here I sit. Tired and cranky and unable to sleep.
I'm also obsessing about a bedding set I bought for BabyGirl this weekend. I love, love, love it but am having buyer's remorse because I spent way too much money. Normally, this wouldn't really worry me but this month has been like a wild spending spree with all the things we've "needed" for the house. Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't return everything and wait a month or so before making the investment. Silly me for insisting to Dr. Daddy that I have a "budget" a few months ago. What was I thinking?

I know that feeling as I am having it myself today! I had a chair and ottoman recovered and they are being delivered tomorrow. All day I have visited and revisited my choice of fabric. Oh well....
