Need ideas!

Okay, ladies (and gents, few that you are). I need you to put on your thinking caps. I'm in this medical alliance of mostly women (a smattering of men that don't really attend many events) and we meet about once a month. Each meeting consists of coffee, business meeting, and a short program of some sort. To give you an idea...in the past we've done a floral design workshop, a talk on editing digital photos, what's new in skincare and facial aesthetics, and some more serious topics like internet predators, heart health, etc. We need new ideas for programs for next year and I'm pretty much tapped out! So, send me your ideas!!!!

hey! last year my alliance set up card tables for a meeting and some of the older ladies taught us younglings to play bridge. it was such a hit that we made it a separate event each month!

oh - and the retired docs like to get in on the bridge as well!

Off the top of my head (not really sure if all would be appropriate, depends on your group) - how to taste wine, tea party with info on brewing different teas from a local tea shop, American Cancer Society has staff that will conduct lunch and learns, financial planner, estate planning, interior decorating basics...

What about some sort of fitness class- like yoga, tai chi or pilates?

Hmmm, here's a few ideas...

-some type of cooking demo/class (choose a particular theme such as Italian, Mexican, grilling, healthy recipes...etc)

-Estate planning/making a will (alot of young people put this off, but, it's important, especially if you have children)

-book review (choose a book to read and discuss it at a meeting)

-ways to prevent identity theft

-recycling

-gardening

That's about all I can come up with. Have a nice week!

What about addressing some of the issues relating to wealth protection - insurance issues affecting high end homeowners, financial planning issues. If practical business issues aren't your thing...wine tasting with sommelier (sp?) or local wine expert, cooking class at local restaurant or Williams-Sonoma. or personal shopper from local boutique offering wardrobe strategies. Do I win, huh, huh, huh? Just kidding, hope this helps.

Ask an owner of a wine shop to talk about wines and let you have a wine tasting. Of course, have an order sheet so members can order wine and make it worth his/her time.

How about a personal coach discussing work/life balance?

I second the ideas about financial and estate planning!

I am with the other girls ... either a wine tasting or a cooking class would be super fun!

Have a Pampered Chef party. Get everyone involve in cooking. You could do a them (desserts, grilling, salad, etc) You could either benefit from the hostess benefits or donate the benefits.

The gardening idea is good to. Especially this time of year.

-How to wrap a present
-how to care for something like silver flatware, etc

One thing that seems to be of great interest in my circle of friends is Organization/Time Management. I know it sounds boring, but it is an idea.

I enjoy reading your blog!

Cake decorating? Soapmaking? Soapmaking is seriously addictive and requires pretty much no skills. If you have a local soap shop, they'll probably do a class for you.

Might be fun to go to smashing times (decorating pottery with little broken pieces of colored glass) or to a paint your own pottery place.

Another idea is to do a service project together.

Love all the ideas from everyone else...
