Lilly Love!

I knew I raising Babygirl right when she picked Lilly Pulitzer's pink elephant Taboo collection invitations for her birthday party. She then picked out the plates, napkins, cups, etc. and declared that she was having a "pink elephant themed birthday". Yup, that's right. She said "theme"! I'm so proud.

Not so proud was I when I discovered I'd be HAND PRINTING the invitations because they were fill ins. Ro well. One lime green sharpie and about two Oprah episodes later the invitations were in the mail.

Babygirl's party was held at our local YMCA. We had an hour in the community room and another hour in the pool. For the beginning of the party I simply covered two tables in hot pink paper and let the kids color in their "Little Lilly" activity books. These were super easy to make. Babygirl has the adorable Lilly activity book from the new stationery collection. I simply scanned some of the pages and printed them out on the computer. This kept the kids occupied for a bit while everyone arrived and put their pink, green, or white leis on.
We ate lunch...Chick fil A nuggets, chips and strawberries. Chicken salad sandwiches for the grown ups. Next, of course, was the cake. Lemme tell ya. I spend for freaking ever on this cake. It was supposed to look like a Little Lilly dress (with the ties on the side). ONE person guessed correctly. Everyone else thought it looked like a swimsuit. Whatever. It was super cute!
We also had a pinata. Of course, Babygirl was shocked and horrified to discover they don't make a pink elephant pinata. I mean, really people. What are they thinking??? Luckily, we did find a green palm tree that she deemed acceptable.

I made a cute little Happy Birthday Banner out of Lilly patterns scanned from stationery and reprinted on 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper. These were really the only decorations we did.

After the sugar driven partygoers scrambled mercilessly on the floor for pinata candy we all headed down to the pool. Babygirl proved that she had been totally messing with us all year and that she's actually quite capable of swimming. (thank you to the lifeguards who insisted on a swim test for all those who wanted to swim in the deep end). Swim team, here we come!!!

Overall, a great party. My cake pride bubble, however, was a bit burst when I discovered this gorgeous cake when googling "Lilly inspired cakes". WOW!

BabyGirl is a good woman in the making.

And CTW - Whatever. I would take your swimsuit/sundress cake any day of the week over that too-tiered showiness...

Please mark October 3 on the calendar. That's when you'll be planning my Lilly-inspired birthday party, complete with activity books. Thanks.

ADORABLE PARTY! Did you hand cut out all those letters for the banner? All your THEMED items as your baby girl said, looked amazing.

Great job!

Oh. My. Word. Absolutely the best. Talk about a perfect party...!

You certainly are raising Babygirl right Miss Sippycups, everything looked great! Easy for me to say, but the cake looked like it was worth every minute you spent on it!

And what good news on her swimming, it sounds like an enormous success all around.

Congratulations!

How awesome is that!? Lovin' it. You should be a party planner in your next life. Starting to think we might have to adopt a girl cause I don't believe my boys are going to let me throw them a Lilly party one day. And I am not sure I can bare not to have one :)

OH my goodness, I have never even thought about having a Lilly themed party, and I am going to totally steal this idea!
If I only had had this in time for my youngest daughter's birthday plans.... But I chose to go the Dr. Suess route. I need help though! She is turning 2 and I am not completely thrilled about getting a bounce house, what do you suggest as far as activities for a 2 year old birthday party that might go along with the Dr. Suess theme?

A girl after my own heart. My daughter is back & forth between Hannah Montana (gag), Eloise, (my wish) Madeline, and a circus-y fun party so the boys in her class can come too.

Your party looks amazing!! Perfect!!
